I was having a lovely chat with Amy the other day about the possibility of us having another baby. It’s something that Hubs and I have talked about, although I’ll be staying on the pill until our trip to Florida in May.
Amy is always asking can she have a sister, she once went into Nursery and told the teachers that she was getting a baby, they were full of congratulations when I went to collect her, until I explained that she’d asked if she could have a baby sister and I’d said “we’ll see, maybe one day”.
Now it’s not that my daughter (the only grandchild on my side) is spoilt in any way, “cared for” is the preferred term, but “we’ll see” usually means yes!
Anyway, the lovely chat, it went something like this;
Me: So, would you like to have a baby brother or sister? (I did mean would you like a sibling?)
Amy: Yes please, a sister.
Me: Well we can’t pick what we get, so you could have a brother or a sister.
Amy: Ok, I’ll have a sister.
Me: Yeah, but we don’t get to decide what kind of baby we have, so you could have a brother or a sister. OK?
Amy: Yeah, but I’d really like a sister.
Me: OK, but it’d be OK if we got a boy and you had a brother though????
Amy: Well…….I suppose I could live with that!
Ah well, she may not be thrilled at the thought of a baby brother, but at least I know if we manage to get pregnant and have another child and it’s a boy she’ll not be packing a bag and moving to Gran’s house!
